The Electro Voice TX 2181 is a passive subwoofer with two 18-inch woofers, and was designed for filling a TX 2152 full-range cabinet by Electro Voice. It has the same height and width as the full-range cabinet, which means that the combination of the two provides a nice, sleek, mobile PA. It is also the perfect low-range complement other Electro Voice full-range cabinets. A processor and a special amplification channel are needed for this bass giant, as it does not have an internal crossover.
Bass reflex Ports
This subwoofer's housing is made of plywood and MDF, which provide for a stable entirety that can definitely take a hit or two. The bass reflex ports and the internal bracing of the cabinet have been designed in such a way that the bass reflex ports produce very little distortion. Moreover, it also has a high sensitivity and power capacity, so you can reach unbelievably low bass tones that still stay tight.
Finish
When you look at the TX 2181, it's clear that it's meant for professional use. The wooden cabinet has been finished with a unique coating designed by EV to be resistant to both water and scratches. Furthermore, the metal grille protects the woofers and it has a unique curved shape for added stability. You'll find 6 mounting points on the bottom for optional wheel plates, making the TX 2181 easy to transport and place. Finally, this subwoofer is equipped with adjustable handles for added ease of transport.
