General

Apple's iPhone 4 and 4S have yielded many popular video clips and even films, thanks to their high-quality camera. Rode have noticed this development and therefore they have developed the Rode RODEGrip+ for the iPhone 4 and 4S. The RODEGrip+ contains a multifunctional holder/pistol grip that securely holds your iPhone, as well as three high-quality camera lenses. As the pistol grip is comfortable to hold, you can easily create shock-free recordings. Also, the RODEGrip+ can be used for a variety of other applications.

RODEGrip+: options

The RODEGrip+ can also be mounted for use as a desktop stand for your iPhone 4/4S. Thanks to an integrated hot-shoe camera mount with screw thread adapter, you can mount your iPhone on a microphone stand, boom arm, video or DSLR camera. This is ideal if you need to use your iPhone for the recording and editing of audio or as a display for, for instance, photo apps.

Three lenses

The RODEGrip+ is delivered including three photographic lenses: a tele lens with 2x optical zoom, 180° fisheye lens and a wide macro lens. A synthetic cap protects the lenses from dust and dirt. The caps have a picture on the front, so that you can instantly recognise them. The RODEGrip+ can be collapsed into a compact unit that is ideal for transport.

Après avoir contacté RODE (le fabricant), j'ai pu bénéficier d'un échange anticipé. Le produit de remplacement ne présentait plus le problème d'usinage. Je rajoute donc une étoile !

Le produit est intéressant et pratique. Malheureusement, la qualité de fabrication n'est pas au rendez-vous. Si la majeure partie de cet ensemble est correcte, les objectifs, vraisemblablement de fabrication asiatique, sont mal usinés. Par exemple, le petit télé 2x n'a pas un pas de vis adapté à celui de la monture et se bloque à 1/4 de tour, risquant de tomber au moindre frottement sur les vêtements. De même, il abîme son socle prévu dans le support.
Je suis également déçu du service des revendeurs/distributeurs, de leur silence quand je leur ai signalé le problème, et des procédures d'échange manquant de confiance (exigence du renvoi préalable ou facturation d'un objectif au prix de la moitié de celui de l'ensemble !)
