General
The OctoPre MKII is a 19-inch 8-channel preamplifier and AD converter in one. It's well suited for line inputs, microphones and instruments, and thanks to the high-quality preamps that Focusrite is known for, you can count on uncompromising audio amplification. Convenient extras include the switchable 48V phantom power per group and a switchable pad per input, which help to ensure excellent ease of use. You can also use the OctoPre MKII as an ADAT converter. Typically, it has a resolution of up to 48 kHz, though it can be supported by the Focusrite OctoPre MK II SMUX; with two ADAT signals together, the resolution can be increased up to 96 kHz.
Inputs and outputs of the OctoPre MKII
You can directly connect two signal sources (microphones, instruments or line signals) to the front of the OctoPre MKII, and you'll find six inputs for a line or mic signal on the back. Each input is equipped with a combo XLR/jack connector for optimal connection freedom. The OctoPre MKII also has plenty of outputs, thanks to the eight 6.35mm stereo jacks.
Monitoring and optimal attunement
Tuning the incoming signal is a piece of cake, since the OctoPre MKII has a detailed gain on each channel. Each input is also equipped with a switchable pad. You can monitor all of the incoming signals individually via a matrix of LED VU meters, which gives a detailed account of all your levels. Finally, to offer optimal synchronisation, the OctoPre MKII has internal clocking, though connecting an external wordclock device is also possible should you so choose.
