General
With the introduction of the Clarett OctoPre interface, Focusrite offers you nothing short of superior audio quality. Not only does this interface feature eight Clarett preamps, it also allows you to expand on your current audio interface via the ADAT outputs. That means even more connection options that the D/A conversion will gladly take care of. The Clarett OctoPre allows you to record eight channels simultaneously in professional 24-bit audio quality with a sample rate of 192 kHz. It also offers 48V phantom power and true bypass on all eight inputs as well as two instrument inputs on the front panel.
Clarett preamps
All Clarett interfaces are equipped with Clarett preamps, which are greatly valued by producers and engineers alike. When you activate the Air function, you'll be engaging the clear, analogue sound of a classic transformer-based ISA preamp. You'll get remarkable transparency and resonance as a result. What's more, the preamps offer an enormous amount of headroom and are perfect for recording particularly dynamic instruments such as drums.
Instrument inputs and ADAT functionality
On the front of this preamp, you'll find two instrument inputs that offer extra headroom and are just perfect for guitars with high-output pickups. On the rear, you'll find a universal XLR/jack combination input so you can record both instruments and mic sources. Every input has its own switched insertion points to enable single-cable connections with effects plugins like compression, EQ, or other analogue effects. A handy feature is that you can leave external units or patch bays plugged in when you're not using them, and activate them when you want at the push of a button. The signal is fully true bypass.
