Fender have expanded their Blacktop series instruments with a new, unique model: the Blacktop Telecaster Baritone. This electric guitar is characterised by its extra long neck with a scale length of 27 inches and a set of thicker strings enables lower tuning, in this case from B to B. This makes that this baritone guitar produces a rich, deep and fat sound, almost like that of a bass guitar yet with the clarity and punch of a proper Tele. The ideal instrument for those distinctive surf licks or extremely low metal riffs.

Features of the Blacktop Telecaster Baritone

This baritone Tele has the features of a modern Telecaster, like a solid alder body and a bolt-on maple neck. Its rosewood fretboard features 22 medium jumbo frets as well as a modern 9.5-inch radius. A Strat-style 6-saddle hardtail bridge provides this guitar with a better adjustability and intonation than a traditional 3-saddle Telecaster bridge would. The two potentiometers and the pickup switch have swapped places so you'll be able to reach the volume knob more easily while playing. Its chrome knobs have made way for two black Fender guitar amplifier-type knobs to give this guitar a real hot-rod look.

Versatile HSS pickup configuration

The Blacktop Telecaster Baritone features three, instead of two, pickups. Firstly, there's a powerful, high-output humbucker in bridge position for rougher types of music from blues rock to heavy metal. The middle and neck pickups are traditional Tele-style single-coil pickups for those twangy cleans and neat, clear distortions. The electronics consist of just a single volume knob and a master tone control for filtering high frequencies. A five-position pickup switch allows you to choose between the different sounds of the three pickups and two combinations of pickups. All in all, this Telecaster offers you a wide range of sounds to fit any music type and playing style.
