The Gretsch G9212 (Cactus Flower) is a limited edition of the popular Honey Dipper resonator guitar. Instead of a round neck, this G9212 is fitted with a square neck, which is ideal for lap steel guitarists. This Cactus Flower edition has the same metal body and powerfully resonating resonator cone as any Honey Dipper, but comes with a weathered salmon pink finish, white bindings along headstock and fingerboard and a vintage-style screened headstock graphic. G9212 Resonator for lap steel guitarists
Originally designed to produce a louder volume than a traditional acoustic guitar, the resonator guitar quickly became popular for its own characteristic sound. Thanks to their metal body and cone, resonator guitars are able to produce a remarkably clear tone that carries quite far. This Honey Dipper is equipped with a high-quality Ampli-Sonic cone, which is made of nearly pure aluminium and has been designed by Gretsch's own engineers. Using fingerpicks and a slide you'll be able to create that unmistakable blues and bluegrass sound. The square neck of this Gretsch G9212 Honey Dipper is particularly suitable for guitar players who rest the instrument on their lap while they're playing - hence the name lap steel guitar. After all, this playing style calls for certain alternative tunings that require the extra strength that a square neck provides.
