With the nex-gen Raster 2, Red Panda present a digital delay that integrates a pitch and frequency shifter into the feedback loop and cracks open a door into uncharted sonic territory. Think modulated and harmonised delays, reverse delays, chorus, arpeggios, chaotic self-oscillation, and infinite repeats. While the control panel is packed with six control pots and nine switches, the second edition of the Raster is just as easy to use as the original, but where the V2 gets better lies in the extra modulation options and fitted stereo inputs and outputs. Armed with a stereo delay time of 1600ms and deep-diving parameter controls, this box of tricks is essentially your new soundscape navigation tool.

Ik wilde eens een niet standaard pedaal kopen, iets dat meer is dan een pedaal met een aantal standen voor verschillende geluiden. De Raster is dat precies. Het is een digital stereo delay met extra's (pitch shifting en modulatie). Hoe dat allemaal op elkaar reageert is niet helemaal voorspelbaar, elke keer dat ik ermee speel kom ik op nieuwe geluiden uit. Mijn eerste indruk was, help, wat is dit, hoe werkt dit, maar na een tijdje spelen en wat reviews kijken op youtube durf ik er nu mee aan de slag en krijg ik er de meeste bijzondere delays uit. Het kost wat, maar dan heb je ook wat speciaals. Minpunt vind ik dat je geen patches kunt laden die andere mensen hebben gemaakt. Er passen 127 patches in via de webeditor, maar je kunt ze geen naam geven en exporteren kan dus ook niet lijkt het. Een bluetooth koppeling is er ook niet, dus je moet altijd de laptop gebruiken. Zonder werkt overigens ook prima, je mist een paar features. Ik had wel direct de webeditor nodig om stereo input aan te kunnen zetten. Wat ik me wel afvraag is als Red Panda er ooit mee stopt, kun je dan nog de editor gebruiken?
