Strymon Olivera Vintage Oil Can Echo

General

The Strymon Olivera Vintage Oil Can Echo takes you back to the days when echoes and reverbs were unexplored territory. This pedal captures the character of the original oil-can echoes from the 1960s, with their dark, undulating repeats and organic movement. Whether you are adding subtle textures reminiscent of a classic spring reverb or want to create deep, modulating delays, Olivera brings that distinctive, fluid sound to life and adds a warm, analogue feel to everything you send through it.

Olivera: Authentic sound

The heart of the Olivera is based on the original Tel-Ray oil-can echo, which was developed in 1959. Instead of tape, this machine used a rotating reservoir filled with conductive oil, which created a sound that sounded both mysterious and compelling. Strymon examined this complex process in detail and developed a new algorithm that accurately mimics the mechanical but organic sound of the original. The result is a delay that not only captures the dark, rhythmic repeats and characteristic modulation of the original, but also adds its own vibrant personality.

Modern ease of use

At the same time, Olivera is totally tuned for modern guitarists. The discrete Class A JFET input ensures a clear, dynamic response, while independent stereo processing treats each channel separately for a rich, spacious sound. With MIDI control, 300 presets and support for expression and MultiSwitch pedals, Olivera fits effortlessly into any setup. You can choose between true or buffered bypass, while delay spillover keeps the repeats running cleanly when you turn off the pedal. Thanks to its robust casing and USB connection for firmware updates, Olivera is as reliable as it is inspiring.
