You might have already guessed from the name of the Ibanez GSRM20 miKro bass guitar that it's a short scale model guitar. As such, it's not nearly the size of a regular bass, though it produces the same sound, making it easier for musicians with smaller hands or even for children who want to get started playing the bass. Of course, it's also a handy choice if you're on the road a lot. Thanks to the two different types of pickups, you also have plenty of choices when it comes to style.

Small instrument, big sound

The GSRM20 miKro features pickups hailing from a Jazz bass and a Precision bass, making it possible to approximate the sound of either guitar. To be specific, you'll find a single-coil pickup in the bridge position and a split single-coil above that. Two rotary volume knobs make it quick and easy to adjust the sound, and a tone control knob lets you take care of the rest. The combination of the rugged poplar body and bolt-on maple neck with rosewood fretboard ensure beautiful intonation. Finally, thanks to the 22 medium frets you get to enjoy a wide tonal range, and the fixed B10 bridge ensures you always have plenty of clarity. This might be a small bass, but the possibilities are huge!

As usual, Japanese manufacturer Ibanez has chosen the NAMM show in Anaheim, California to launch their new bass guitars. What better time to introduce 24 brand new models than the world's largest music gear convention, after all? Some of these new basses are based on existing models, but feature new finishes or modifications. Others are completely new, ground-breaking instruments.
