Now, the second generation of 5-string V3 basses is here. Compared to its predecessor, this particular model comes with several interesting upgrades, including a mahogany body mounted with Marcus Standard J-Revolution pickups for a convincing sound. In addition, the fretboard edges have been carefully rounded to raise the playing comfort, and a sweet extra comes in the form of an ash battery cover. The Marcus Miller V3-5: Jack of all Trades

Sire have chosen to equip the V3-5 2nd Gen with a Marcus Miller Heritage-3 preamp, which includes a special 3-band EQ designed to pull every possible bit versatile tone out of this bass. Dependable stability is guaranteed by a truss rod and a maple neck reinforced with two carbon-fibre rods, while an all-steel bridge solidifies the overall sound and keeps the tuning in check. Wrote the following about Sire Marcus Miller V3-5 2nd Generation Tobacco Sunburst

Deze Sire Marcus Miller is echt een geweldig instrument! Hij klinkt ontzettend mooi door mijn speakers met zowel de passieve als actieve toonregeling. Hij is aan de wat zwaardere en langere kant maar dat valt bij mij wel in de smaak en is voor mij persoonlijk geen nadeel. Ik heb eerder met 5-snarige basgitaren wel eens neckdive ervaren maar met dit instrument heb ik daar geen last van. Als je hem aan een band om hebt blijft hij goed in balans. De hals is ook erg fijn. Hij ligt prettig in de hand, is mooi afgewerkt en de afgeronde randen van de fretboard voelen erg fijn aan. Er zitten ook nergens scherpe randjes aan. Het instrument was bij ontvangst al meteen speelklaar. Het was niet nodig om de hals en de bridge nog te moeten afstellen. De optionele pickup cover die je erbij krijgt is ook een leuke toevoeging! Hiervoor moet je alleen wel zelf gaten voor maken om deze te installeren.

Enkele puntjes waar je wel op moet letten: De stemmechanieken zijn funtioneel, maar niet van het hoogste niveau en ik moet hem daarom ook regelmatig opnieuw stemmen. Dit merk ik al helemaal als ik hem ergens mee naartoe neem waarna ik hem in 1 sessie soms vaker opnieuw moet stemmen. Voor mij is het niet een super groot probleem, maar als je er iets aan zou moeten aanpassen dan zouden dat voor mij die stemmechanieken zijn. De pickups heb ik ook iets moeten verstellen aangezien de neck-pickup op mijn exemplaar aanzienlijk luider is dan de pickup in de bridge positie. En nog als laatste kleine tip: Koop oplaadbare 9v batterijen. Het instrument heeft 2 9 v batterijen nodig om met de actieve toonregeling te kunnen spelen maar naar mijn ervaring trekken deze batterijen vrij snel leeg.

Al met al, een fantastisch instrument. Al helemaal voor deze prijs.
