General
The Electribe MX, a high-quality workstation/sampler for music producers and DJs, was first introduced in 2003. The successor of that fantastic piece of gear is the Electribe 2 Music Production Station, an equally high-grade device that is not just great for beginners, but will also delight more experienced sampler and sequencer users.
Korg Electribe 2
The redesigned Electribe boasts a number of technological features that have been derived from other Korg products, such as the KingKORG, the kaossilator, the kaoss pad and the taktile. Equipped with 200 preset patterns, it's a great device for exploring music genres like house, techno and the like. A high-grade synth engine enables you to creatively manipulate and generate sounds, and there are over 409 oscillator waveforms available, using technology like analogue modelling and PCM. The analogue modelling synth engine allows you to choose from a wide range of basic to more complex waveforms, such as dual, unison, sync, ring modulation and cross modulation. The PCM sound engine provides you with drum sounds, but also offers a selection of multi-samples for keys - the result of a collaboration with Sample Magic, Prime Loops and Loopmasters.
Velocity-sensitive pads
Sixteen velocity-sensitive pads (with LED lights) allow you to intuitively create patterns - not only can you hear your progress, you can see it too! Use the pads as a keyboard to record in real-time, or adjust the pitch and rhythm step by step. The Step Jump function, which has been borrowed from the Volca series, allows you to use the patterns you've created in an alternate form, while the Last Step function enables you to vary the length of each part. By assigning drum sounds to the 16 pads, you can turn the Electribe 2 into a drum machine - you'll be able to create complex rhythm patterns without any effort.
Additional features
The Electribe 2 boasts offers many great functions, a number of which are particularly suitable for live performances. Take the built-in master effects module with vinyl break effects, for instance, or the Seq Reverse and Odd Stepper features, that change the playback order of the sequencer so you can discover new beat patterns. To ensure that you have everything you need both on stage and in the studio, the Music Production Station is equipped with MIDI IN/OUT as well as Sync IN/OUT. A USB connector and a card slot for SD and SDHC cards provide storage options and allow for communication with your computer. MIDI cables, a Lite version of Ableton Live 9 (including a license) and a power adapter are included. Would you like to be able to use the Electribe 2 on the go? Six AA batteries will keep the Korg Music Production Station powered for up to five hours.
