General
Polished and powered-up in the Elektron labs, this is the new and improved Octatrack MKII. The MKI is already a stage favourite so it's been treated with a few welcome performance-focused tweaks and upgrades, including a thoughtfully enhanced 128 x 64 OLED screen that's just as crisp and clear in a dark club as it is in the comfort of your bedroom. To further improve visibility, the buttons now come backlit so you always know exactly where you're at, and since the controls have been specifically designed to take a beating, this unit can comfortably be played like a percussive instrument.
The Octatrack mk2: Extensive Sampling
Just like the OG, the Octatrack MKII is built for making samples and weaving hair-raising sequences, so you can trigger eight audio tracks and just as many MIDI tracks, and if the pitch or tempo are not quite on point, then either can be adjusted in minute detail and in real-time. The slick switching between two channels using the contactless crossfader is also shamelessly cool, and to make the step-over as smooth as possible, any projects you've got saved to a MKI can be used on the MKII. In terms of connections, nothing has changed, so four inputs, two outputs, and a port for hooking up external MIDI gear is all provided.

Delivery was on time despite covid 19 interruptions.
The Octatrack has a steep learning curve , but only because of the immense
possibilities this machine provides. Also works as a synth. record some basic wave forms and use the data entry knobs to shape the sound. You can also leverage the scene slider to get more variation to the mix. Awesome :) :) :)

Op veel fora lees je dat hij lastig is te begrijpen. Als je je huiswerk doet en eerst veel tutorials lijkt en de handleiding leest dan valt hij wel mee. Het is echt een plezier om met de Octatrack te zetten. Hij laat je muziek naadloos in elkaar over mixen, manipuleren en voorzien van extra tonen door het gebruik van samples. Kortom een top apparaat!

To begin with, there is far less menu-diving required due to the addition of function keys for direct access to several important features in regular use in order to enhance the user workflow. Importantly, all of the keys are now backlit which lets you know exactly where you are on the board when working in dimly lit stage areas or darkness.
The encoders offer a finer degree of tuning precision with more positive feedback and the crossfader also feels smoother. The high-contrast OLED display is a welcome upgrade to the former model's screen but best of all is the vast improvement to sound quality of any material sampled through the machine's own inputs due to extended headroom and the new balanced input specification.
As a user of the original Octatrack for five years, I would highly recommend all enhancements Elektron have made to the MKII - in particular for anyone looking to integrate the Octatrack into live performances.
