General

A mouthpiece with tip opening 8 is by far the most widely used mouthpiece for a tenor saxophone. This means that the Meyer BMET8 is also one of the most popular mouthpieces in the world for this type of saxophone. A larger tip opening gives more resistance and therefore more flexibility in your tone. Your sound becomes darker and warmer because you can blow more air through the opening. The material this mouthpiece is made of is ebonite. This hard plastic is found in many mouthpieces and adds extra warmth to your sound. Meyer mouthpieces are easy to play and therefore suitable for students and more advanced saxophonists.
