General

With the deluxe addition of a laminated quilted maple top, a more classic Scroll-Style headstock and a few other sweet upgrades, this D'Angelico offering takes the Excel DC to the XT. While this is definitely a step up from the standard Excel, the 16 inch wide body, the thin-C neck profile, rosewood fretboard and flat 16 inch radius all remain, gifting the Excel DC XT with impeccable comfort and light and nimble playability.

The D'Angelico Excel DC XT: Extreme Luxury

The core sound of the Excel has also been retained, so you get a classic pair of Seymour Duncan '59 humbuckers that combine with the maple build to produce a surprisingly wide tonal spectrum framed by ultra-warm basses, glassy, bell-like trebles and masses of natural sustain. But, since this is the XT edition, both pickups have also been set up with a single-coil style voicing that can be activated by popping out the push-pull tone pots - supporting endless sonic variation. Deliciously flexible and finished with irresistible D'Angelico style and detailing, this model is very simply even more versatile and even more luxurious.
