General
Straight out of 1958, the Gibson Original Collection ES-335 thinline semi-acoustic still has the same familiar Dot position markers, the same double cutaway body and the same classic finish. The three-piece maple and poplar construction, set-in mahogany neck and rosewood fretboard of this timeless electric archtop deliver that unmistakable airy yet tight and powerful foundation, framed a fast, sweetly rounded-off attack, which is all beautifully balanced by the internal centre-block. This throwback charmer also comes complete with its own form-fitting hardshell case.
The Gibson Original Collection ES-335: Calibrated T-Type Lead & Rhythm Humbuckers
That all-important centre-block is what sets this model apart from many full-sized hollowbody guitars, since it helps counter the unwelcome end of on-stage feedback. Two specially designed Gibson Calibrated T-Type humbuckers have been wired into the classic Lead and Rhythm circuit and shape warm and delicious, vintage-style Alnico-based tone, and this setup has then been combined with four hand-wired 500k control pots complete with matching orange drop capacitors and a three-way switch, so you can comfortably scroll through the full ES-335 profile gambit. Other faithful details include an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, an aluminium Stop-Bar and a set of Vintage Deluxe machine heads complete with Keystone tuning buttons.
