General

The G6119T-62GE Vintage Select Edition '62 Tennessean is a guitar purist's dream instrument. Built according to specifications from 1962, this guitar - that was designed in collaboration with star guitarist Chet Atkins - will make you feel like no time has passed at all. The Tennessee Rose stands out thanks to its slim body with faux, painted-on f-holes. Chet Atkins reckoned that real sound holes would affect the body's feedback. Parallel tone bars for bracing - a means of reinforcement that allows for a slimmer body while retaining the full hollow-body sound - was also one of Chet Atkins' innovative ideas.

A Classic Beauty

If you didn't known any better, you'd think this Dark Cherry Stain beauty was transported straight from the 1960s. Not only its shape and finish exude the decade's spirit, its hardware is vintage-correct as well. The guitar features two TV-Jones Hilo'tron single-coil pickups, for instance, ensuring more output and warmth than a standard single-coil could, but also allowing for sparkling trebles and a nice feisty bite. The elaborate, versatile tone controls once again betray the hand of Chet Atkins, and even the Sta-tite machine heads are true to the period. Basically, this Vintage Select Edition Gretsch treats you to the classic characteristics and sound you've come to love, for a realistic price.

Vintage Select Editions

Even though Gretsch Guitars was originally founded in 1883, the 1950s were the company's glory days. Not only was rock & roll up and coming, it was also a great time for guitar builders, who kept their businesses rolling along smoothly. Thanks to years of experience and collaborations with famous guitar builders like Chet Atkins, Gretsch was able to issue guitar models that are still incredibly popular today. To pay homage to their own golden age, Gretsch has introduced the Vintage Select Editions, a series of guitars that adhere strictly to the specifications from their heydays. All of the Gretsch Vintage Select guitars are vintage-correct and, unlike the original instruments from the '50s, affordable for true fans.

Gretsch Introduces the Vintage Select and Player Editions

Friday 29 January 2016

Gretsch fans can roughly be divided into two groups. On the one hand you have the purists who think the specifications from the 1950s and 1960s - the Gretsch heydays - are beyond dispute. On the other hand, you have the more practically minded guitarists who like to make modifications to their instruments. Luckily, both camps are being catered to with Gretsch's new series: the Vintage Select Editions and the Players Editions. Go for a modern classic like the G6118T-SGR or travel back in time to 1962 with the Gretsch G6119T-62GE!
