General
The Avantone Pro SSM is a shock mount that's designed for professional use. It's fit for the small-diaphragm microphones by Avantone Pro, but can also be used for nearly any other microphone with a diameter of 19 to 22 mm. The shock mount is highly durable and prevents body-to-body vibrations reaching your microphone via the microphone stand.
Durable construction of the SSM
The housing of the Avantone Pro SSM is made of die-cast metal (zinc). Apart from durability, it also increases the unit's mass, adding to vibration dampening. The microphone itself is clamped between four durable rubber O-rings, so that the mic is suspended completely freely.

Wrote the following about Avantone Pro SSM shock mount
Doordat hij volledig van metaal is gemaakt is deze shockmount erg zwaar (bijna 300 gram!!). De Konig & Meyer boompole die ik er bij heb gekocht buigt dan ook ver door wanneer alleen de shockmount er aan hangt. In combinatie met de Sennheiser K6 + ME66 is het niet te doen. Daarnaast is het metaal ook meer gevoelig voor trillingen en schokken. Een normale plastic shockmount is dan ook veel stiller dan deze metalen. Als gewicht geen punt is dan is deze shockmount een duurzame oplossing, maar als je je setup zo licht mogelijk wilt houden dan zou ik voor de Røde shockmount gaan. Ik ga dan ook proberen om deze te retourneren.
