Soyuz 013 Ambisonic Microphone

The Soyuz 013 Ambisonic Microphone features four small-diaphragm, cardioid 013 FET capsules that capture sound from all directions. Using the included plugins, the sound can be converted to stereo or surround as needed.

Ambisonics

Ambosonic microphones are very different to standard mono and stereo set-ups. Any recordings made using the Soyuz 013 Ambosonic are basically your raw footage (A-format) that, using the included Transcoder plugin, are converted into the Ambisonics format (B-format). After that, things get really interesting. Using the Decoder plugin, you now get to decide whether you want the sound to come from the top, front, back or underside — kind of like you're adjusting microphone placement via your DAW. The last step involves selecting the preferred output format.

Output Formats

There are various output formats to choose from, meaning you're not necessarily bound to Dolby Atmos. Also, Ambosonics doesn't just cater for fans of surround-sound. The technology also supports stunning stereo recordings with a degree of spatiality that you don't get from standard stereo set-ups.
