Back in the eighties, spectacular-looking transparent acrylic drum shells were everywhere. Today, Tama has breathed new life into the concept of see-through drum kit shells and enhanced them with improved technology and modern hardware. The result is this Sound Lab Project 14 x 6.5-inch Mirage Acrylic snare drum. It boasts a sturdy 5mm-thick seamless acrylic shell that sounds similar to that of a wooden snare, but with one important difference. A wooden shell absorbs the energy of every stroke while an acrylic shell reflects and enhances it. To top it all off, the S.P.L Mirage Acrylic snare has a Crystal Ice finish, giving it a light, silvery glow.

Chrome hardware

Let's talk about that modern hardware. For starters, this snare features a die-cast hoop that's held in place by ten one-piece lugs. A Linear Drive strainer prevents the Hi-Carbon Snappy snares from hitting the head when engaged. Finally, this snare comes complete with drum heads by Evans, which is no unfamiliar name in the world of drums. All in all, this snare is not only a visual, but a musical treat; but take note, it's available in a limited quantity only!
