Do you want to upgrade your electronic drum kit with an even better snare drum pad? Then have a look at the PD-140DS V-Pad by Roland. This digital snare drum looks just like an acoustic snare but possesses all the possibilities of an electronic one!

Roland PD-140DS V-Pad 14-inch digital snare drum

This 14-inch digital snare drum is 4.3 inches deep and equipped with a 3-layer mesh head, which significantly lowers the volume of your playing. The great thing about this snare is that it has eight sensors which give you plenty of sound possibilities. You can even play with brushes! The module creates different sounds depending on where you hit the drum, so even things like rim shots and rim clicks are possible with this digital snare. This pad even knows how much of your stick you actually use! For instance, when you play a rim shot with just the end of your stick, the snare will sound snare higher than when you play one with the entire length of your stick. That's the same effect as on an acoustic drum kit! This V-Pad is designed to work best with Roland's TD-50 drum module, but is compatible with other modules that have a digital trigger input, although Roland can't guarantee 100% functionality.

Tips or comments about this product

With mesh heads, we recommend using nylon-tip drum sticks only. A (slightly) splintered wooden tip can damage the head.
Please note: this pad is designed especially for use with the TD-50 module.

Wrote the following about Roland PD-140DS V-Pad 14-inch digital snare drum

Was bedoeld als een extra snare. Ik had al zo'n zelfde via een VAD507, en omdat die erg goed bevalt koos ik voor een tweede van dezelfde.

Een paar dingetjes: houd er rekening mee dat de module waarop je hem aansluit waarschijnlijk maar ruimte bedoeld had voor 1 snare. Dat geldt iig voor de TD27 en TD50. Je kunt voor de RIM en de HEAD midi notes instellen, maar er is geen ruimte voor de sidestick. Dat is wel een beperking.

Als je speelt via drumsoftware, zoals Superior Drummer, dan kun je een extra snare importeren, er midi notes aan toekennen en ermee spelen, maar dat gaat niet met alle drumsoftware. Veel software heeft een vaste opstelling aan trommels met een vaste set aan inputs die je niet kunt uitbreiden. Als je via software speelt, dan moet je daar wel rekening mee houden als je hem als extra snare gebruikt. Er is software waar dat gewoon niet mee kan.

De extra mogelijkheden die je desalniettemin toevoegt maken dat ik er geen spijt van heb.

Het heeft helaas wel een maand geduurd voordat ik hem binnen had en het heeft wat heen- en weer gebel gekost voordat Bax er daadwerkelijk werk van maakte. Als Bax zegt dat dat door Roland komt, dan wil ik dat best geloven, maar ik had het wel zo netjes gevonden als ze me daarvan op de hoogte gebracht hadden. Nu moest ik er zelf een aantal keer achteraan.
