Hal Leonard The Real Book Volume I (Eb instruments)

The Real Book is originally a three-volume collection of jazz standards. The melody and chords of each classic are listed, providing an excellent basis for improvisation. Volume I is the most frequently used volume and, like the others, contains 400 jazz numbers. The 464 pages are held together by a handy ring binder. You can see here the edition for Eb instruments, such as baritone and alto saxophone.

The Real Book Volume I: a fair edition

The Hal Leonard The Real Book Volume I is the first edition of The Real Book for which royalties were paid to the composers. Until then, they used copies of compilations that musicians had compiled themselves in the 1970s. Hal Leonard's Volume I is called the 'Sixth Edition', in reference to the most recent (pirated) fifth edition. The song list is largely the same and many errors have been corrected.
