Take a look: Kurzweil has another new generation in their SP series of stage pianos: the SP8. So that means another keyboard for the pro's, with sounds for the pro's, building on a legacy that was particularly high profile in the 80s and 90s. This SP8 again uses the immense V.A.S.T. engine, a well-known Kurzweil acronym for many years. You get an extraordinarily fine collection of 2 GB of high-end sounds, now also updated with sounds from the K2700, K2088 and PC4. This means that the SP8 is basically a stage piano with an awesome synthesiser. So this product is not merely interesting for keyboardists in a band. Even if you just want to build your own sounds in your studio, and play with a hammer-action piano keyboard, this is the product to invest in!
Features of the Kurzweil SP8
Those two gigabytes aren't even everything, or rather: not every possible sound is a sample. Under the hood you will also find tonewheel modelling, as well as 6-operator FM synthesis. Especially the latter is a huge addition to the sound potential. Vector synthesis with classic Kurzweil sounds is also present. In case you believe it's all else with that synthesis, know that there are already 1000 presets present, so chances are pretty good that you won't even need the internal jokes and gags. But sound adventurers who do have fun with it can store their creations in 4000 (!) user-locations. In other words: the power to work with great sounds is abundant, even if you purely aim to use the SP8 as a real stage piano in a band. Just think: if you can provide some different - and unique - sounds to your band, that makes you very valuable as a keyboardist, courtesy of Kurzweil.
