General

Are you looking for a bit more brightness and sparkle in your acoustic guitar? No problem, because the Recording King RD-127 is a solid steel-string guitar with a rosewood body. Compared to the popular mahogany, rosewood offers a slightly more aggressive tone with deeper bass - a characteristic that is coveted by most acoustic guitarists. The RD-127 has a dreadnought-type body and has various classic features that make it a favourite amongst traditional guitarists.

RD-127: first-class solid wood types

The Recording King RD-127 features a top made of solid sitka spruce, which is a Canadian wood type with a warm, open sound and aggressive response. Combined with the solid rosewood sides and back, that means this steel-string acoustic guitar produces a well-balanced sound with emphasis on both bass and trebles. Furthermore, the RD-127 also features something that is called forward X bracing. This means that the braces on the backside of the top are placed a bit further forward, like they were originally designed, giving the guitar more volume and enhanced resonance in both high and low frequencies. As such, the RD-127 is perfect for when you play with a band.

Back to the '30s

The RD-127 will take you right back to the 1930's, when guitars were still simple yet stylish. The first thing you might notice is the elegant mother-of-pearl torch inlay on the headstock - hence its given nickname 'Torch'. Furthermore, the RD-127 features herringbone top purfling, a 20-fret ebony fingerboard, a vintage-style bevelled tortoise pickguard and an authentic pre-war diamond volute. The volute is placed at the joint of the neck and the headstock, which used to be made from separate pieces of wood. While the volute only serves an aesthetic purpose nowadays, you have to admit that it does look rather good.
