General
If you're a serious singer who wants to set up a high-quality recording studio at home, you'll need to invest in some decent equipment. Choosing the right components is not always the easiest task however, which is why the product specialists here at Bax Music have put the Bax Advised Vocal Set Star recording kit together for you. To start with, they've chosen Warm Audio's WA87 large-diaphragm condenser microphone which is a model that's often, justifiably, compared to legendary mic models.
For vocal stars
The kit also includes Steinberg's excellent UR28M desktop USB audio interface and you'll also get Sennheiser's HD 280 Pro headphones as well as a mic stand by K&M, a Procab microphone cable and a pop filter. The only other things you'll need are a computer and some DAW software.

This is great mic, especially given the price. I've used it on main vocals, BVs, a range of stringed acoustic instruments, percussion and brass, It captures a wide variety of sources well, gets a decent result with most voices, and the resultant recordings usually seem to need a lot less processing to get them to sit well. Very happy with the mic. Output level is a little on the low side compared with some of my other LDCs, but it's not a problem - still perfectly adequate and not so low that a preamp has to work overtime.
If I have one minor niggle it would be that although they do work fine, the pad/ HPF/pattern selector switches are are a little cheap and slack feeling which doesn't match up to the good build quality elsewhere on the mic. In a home studio environment this hasn't been a huge issue though, as there's only a couple of us setting up the mic and we take care with it. Probably wouldn't do for a rental company mic though!

This is a superb mic. Did a blind test in the studio and this one came out of top both times. It was also up against a real Neumann. It makes vocals sound like a finished mix and sits in the mix perfectly. It's a great mic at a great price.

Another solid K&M product. Don't mess about with cheaper offerings from other manufacturers. These are built to last and have spares available for the long term if you somehow break something. I've bought 4 of these so far, and if I need more I'll be back.

Ik denk niet dat je qua prijs/kwaliteit-verhouding een betere bedrade over-ear koptelefoon kunt vinden. Ik gebruik om vooral om bas en gitaar mee af te spelen met m'n Zoom B1 Four, Yamaha THR 10 en Line6 Pocket Pod en dat doet-ie perfect. Door het lange krulsnoer is er genoeg 'speelruimte'. Verder is het een van de weinige over-ear koptelefoons die óók goed zitten en afsluiten als je een bril draagt. En het geluid is zoals ik gewend ben gewoon goed.

Ik ben altijd al fan van Sennheiser en deze Sennheiser HD 280 PRO hoofdtelefoon is perfect voor muziek luisteren en maken. Sluit goed om je oren heen en is ook verstelbaar. Daarnaast ook gewoon een goed lang snoer. De prijs kwaliteit verhouding is gewoon top!
