General
Yamaha's HPH-MT7W Studio Monitor headphones were designed to deliver reliable, flat audio. They don't colour sound, neither boosting nor filtering out specific frequencies, which means you're able to hear the sound source as it truly is. The HPH-MT7W headphones have a closed construction, so you won't be bothered by ambient noise. Sound leakage won't be a problem either, as the soft ear pads do a great job isolating sound. If you often spend hours on end in the studio, comfort is of the essence. Fortunately, these Yamaha headphones have got you covered! Their 3-metre cable has a stereo mini jack plug on the end, but as a stereo jack adapter plug is included, you'll have no trouble plugging into a wide range of audio equipment.
The MT7 headphones: audio reproduction
Yamaha's MT7W headphones are equipped with 40mm custom drivers with a CCAW voice coil and powerful neodymium magnets, so they deliver detailed, undistorted sound, even at high volumes. The drivers have a frequency range that extends from 15 HZ all the way to 25 kHz, so you'll be able to hear even the lowest bass tones. Thanks to the headphones' closed construction, you won't be distracted by noisy studio equipment or computers.
Comfort and design
These headphones' adjustable, sweat-proof headband is made of durable plastic and fitted with a soft padded lining. The large ear pads are made of synthetic leather and enclose your ears, so they won't apply any unnecessary pressure. Wrote the following about Yamaha HPH-MT7W Studio Monitor headphones white
Voor deze koptelefoon geldt dat helaas niet. Ik heb de koptelefoon puur op vertrouwen in Yamaha besteld en vervolgens na ontvangst 1-2 uur gebruikt en getest met allerlei soorten muziek. De hoge frequenties zijn sterk aanwezig, de lage frequenties mistte ik. Verder vond ik het geluid erg gecomprimeerd klinken. Weinig dynamiek. Al met al een resultaat waarbij ik de koptelefoon niet goed kon gebruiken en behoorlijk tegenviel in deze prijsklasse. De pasvorm was ook niet prettig. De oorschelpen waren kleiner dan verwacht en volledig rond (een ovaal vorm oorschelp zou veel natuurlijker zijn of anders gewoon wat groter). Nu ben ik van mijzelf van mening dat ik niet al te grote oren heb, maar de oorschelp van de koptelefoon viel met moeite om de gehele oor heen. Dit geeft al snel een minder comfortabel gevoel en zorgde er ook voor dat het niet altijd goed afsloot.
De lengte van de kabel en het opschroefbare opzetstuk voor 6,3mm jack aansluiting waren punten die ik wel positief vond.
Deze Yamaha koptelefoon zal ik retour sturen en inmiddels heb ik ook een Shure SRH940 MKII bij Bax shop besteld. Hier was ik na 5 minuten al helemaal van overtuigd en zal binnenkort een nadere review bij deze Shure koptelefoon achter laten. Wat dat betreft kan ik op dit moment zeggen tegen de twijfelaars: overweeg eens de Shure SRH940 MKII.
Wat de service van Bax-shop betreft: tot op heden nog helemaal niets op aan te merken. Een top service en snelle probleemloze levering.
