Genelec, a brand that is often found in professional studios, has designed a line of products specifically for home and hobby use. The attractive M series falls into this category, and the M030 is the entry-level model. This active monitor features a unique housing, quality components, and is made for optimal performance in any small space.
Features of the M030 monitor
The M030 certainly wasn't just thrown together. Genelec clearly took a lot of time to develop the design, and it shows. The housing was designed in such a way as to produce minimal resonance, and thanks to the use of a special die-cast housing (with fibres and wood), the housing is has been optimised for maximum performance. A class D bi-amplifier provides the power, and even features a stand-by mode for saving energy when the monitor isn't in use. The stand-by mode is extra special because it springs the monitor back to life as soon as a signal is detected!
The technology
The M030 monitor is equipped with a 5-inch woofer, which is accompanied by a 3/4-inch tweeter for the high frequencies. Thanks to the special bass reflex port, you can rest assured that the low frequencies will remain strong and neutral. A class D bi-amplifier is responsible for providing the power, and offers 30 watts to the highs and 50 watts to the lows. Finally, you can enjoy a maximum sensitivity of 103 dB and a frequency range of 58 to 20,000 Hz, making it an ideal choice for the most divers music production applications.

Ik heb twee van deze speakers staan voor de afluistering van videocontent en tv-programma's tijdens het monteren.
De monitors staan zo'n 2 meter van mij vandaan en een halve meter van de wand. Het is duidelijk dat dit model power genoeg heeft voor mijn ruimte van +/- 28 vierkante meter. Door middel van de genelec volume knop regel ik het afluistervolume.

Het geluid van de Genelec M030 is crisp, helder en mooi in het laag. Door middel van makkelijk te bereiken switches op de achterkant kun je het geluid nog enigszins aanpassen. Maar de neutrale stand klinkt voor mij al helemaal goed.
Je moet ze wel enigszins goed richten want de output lijkt wat 'smal'. Maar aan mijn bureau van 3 meter kan ik ze perfect stellen.
De prachtige behuizing met de nieuwe, toch bekende Genelec-look maken het voor mij een hele prettige, betaalbare monitor speaker.
En zoals bijna altijd bij BAX; vandaag besteld, morgen in huis. Superservice!
