Recently, Kali Audio came out with the mighty SM-5, a high-end studio monitor. With a 5-inch woofer, you basically know that at some point a larger one is going to appear. And that moment is now: the Kali Audio SM-8 is a larger variant with an 8+4+1 configuration, where the mid and tweeter are coaxial together. So a three-way, and that offers advantages: the big woofer can transfer some of the work to the mid-woofer. So woofers working together, and because working together makes light work, the individual woofers also perform a lot better.

Features of the Kali Audio SM-8

Under the bonnet of the SM-8, you'll find a DSP - basically an 8-band parametric equaliser - that lets you adjust the SM-8's sound to suit the environment. More professionalism in the form of AES/EBU connector - in addition to a regular XLR/jack combo connector. In Kali Audio's range, this is clearly a pricey product, especially when you consider that their other series are, in contrast, very inexpensive. The audience for the SM-8 will therefore be a different one compared to that for the LP and IN series. In the high-end segment, the SM-8 is one to be reckoned with; plenty of class!
