General

The active M-Audio M3-8 is a great yet affordable 3-way studio monitor, which surpasses a mere starter model in various ways. The compact size of the speaker is reminiscent of a 2-way speaker, but houses three drivers - the tweeter and the Kevlar mid-frequency driver are mounted in-line. Thanks to the 220-watt tri-amp system, the three drivers are separately powered, which increases the overall sound quality.

The reliable M3-8 monitor

Connect the M 3-8 active monitor - with its gorgeous wooden front panel - to an audio interface or mixer by means of the balanced XLR or 6.3mm inputs, or use the unbalanced RCA inputs. A built-in 3-band equalizer and a switchable low-cut filter enable you to adjust the settings of the monitor, creating a neutral sound that matches the surrounding acoustics, and a volume control is located at the rear of the cabinet. In short, the M-Audio M3-8 is a reliable active studio monitor that supplies an excellent reference tone.

Ik heb ze nu een paar dagen staan en ik kan niet anders zeggen, top. Voor dat geld. Veel betere verdeling van het geluid als een 2-weg systeem uit dezelfde klasse, tenminste dat is mijn mening. En over de bas kan ik alleen maar zeggen dat ik hem niet voluit gooi, want dan krijg ik ruzie met de buren. Prettige heldere tonen.

Ik heb ze nu al bijna een jaar in gebruik als geluids systeem voor mijn Roland TD30 drumstel. Zeer tevreden. Prachtig geluid, ze hebben nooit problemen op een luid niveau. De lage tonen zijn echt vol power. Ook in de huiskamer zijn geweldig. Ik maak een lang verhaal kort: Ik kan deze speakers echt aanraden! Blij dat ik niet de Yamaha, JBL Adam route ben gegaan.

Leuk klinkende en mooi staande in de huiskamer monitoren, mits je niet teveel eist van de woofer, is het standaard een goed helder klinkend systeem. Bij scratchen of veel bps onder de 80 Hz gaat hij vrij snel fibreren , maar dan heb je al flink wat Db's rond de oren. Voor een driewegsysteem met deze opties geeft hij een mooi geluid. Voor echt diep te gaan moet er een sub bij, maar dat heeft elke 8inch woofer.
En geld technisch is het een goed product, geen top, maar dat kan niet voor het geld.
Voor zeer veel lage beats zou ik hem niet nemen, maar als je die muziek maakt, heb je altijd een sub nodig. Het is trouwens niet een echt tri-amp, het is een bi-amp , waarvan het vermogen naar de coaxiale speakers, simpel weg een crossover heeft.

Als ze nu ook nog goed klinken, dan zijn ze meer dan welkom in de studio. Zoek nog een wat goedkoper referentiesetje naast de andere sets. Dit maakt een goede kans.
