With a Monkey Banana Turbo 5 active studio monitor, you invest in a studio monitor that, although it has a somewhat funny name, is certainly not hilarious in terms of its capabilities. It's a model with a vif inch woofer, giving a bottom of 55 Hz. Fine for mainstream mixes, and just as fine to combine with a subwoofer like the Turbo 10s, also from Monkey Banana. When it comes to professionalism, the rear shows why: in addition to the XLR, TRS and RCA connections, there is also S/PDIF. So you can forget the analogue cables and just go digital, and that can by no means be said of every studio monitor.

Wrote the following about Monkey Banana Turbo 5 active studio monitor, black (per unit)

Ik heb nog maar net deze speakers in huis. Ik heb gekocht naar aanleiding van een luistersessie bij bax. Daarna heb ik kabels en stands gekocht. DIt is dus een eerste indruk review en ik hoop dat ik niet vergeet over een paar maanden een update te schrijven. Hoe vlak zijn ze...hebben relatief veel bas. Aan de achterzijde zijn hi en low equalizers aangebracht om een beetje te corrigeren. Qua formaat vind ik ze echt heel tof/ de vormgeving is net even anders. Initieel wilde ik yamaha's hs5 of focals of ADAM kopen. Toen ik deze tegenkwam vond ik dit ook erg prettig. Ze hebben naast de xlr ook een digitale en tulp ingang. Tsja...hoe ze gaan bevallen bij het mixen kan ik pas over een poosje zeggen. Ik denk wel dat de hulp in de winkel in Amsterdam erg heeft geholpen; niet alleen het luisteren maar ook het gesprek met de verkoper. Als je begint met produceren kun je eindeloos wikken en wegen. Uiteindelijk moet je de knoop doorhakken; kies dan iets wat je zelf goed vindt klinken en een paar uur naar kan luisteren en binnen je budget past. Met meer ervaring en budget kun je later een keer upgraden. In de beginfase moet je nog leren mixen/luisteren. Daarna kun je ook je opnamespullen en je kamer flink onder handen nemen.
