From the moment you switch the Electro Harmonix Super Ego Synth Engine on, the pedal produces a synthesized sound based on what you've played, and sustains it. You can also use the effect to layer several notes. Thanks to its many options, this EHX pedal allows for both subtle effects and the most outrageous synthesizer sounds. Functions of the EHX Super Ego

You can freely play your solos over the sustained notes, until you decide it's time to unfreeze them (you can control this using either the auto or the latch mode). A glissando function allows for fluidly gliding tones, and it's also possible to send the effect signal through an effects loop, using the send and return connectors. As such, the Electro Harmonix Super Ego is a comprehensive version of the EHX Freeze pedal. Activate the desired mode by pressing the small switch in the middle. The middle position works as long as you keep the foot switch pressed. In 'latch', a simple push of a button is enough to freeze the sound of that moment, and in the 'auto' mode, every ensuing sound is also automatically frozen.
