General
Arturia's strategy in designing this modular synth was clear: design a matrix that offers thousands of possible routings. To do this, a set of 16 modulation sources can be connected to 16 modulation destinations. Then a data encoder can calculate the number of routings and display this information on the specially developed Electronic ink (E-Ink) screen. It's also possible to use the versatile matrix to recall one of no less than 256 presets and programming and recalling your own presets is possible too, of course.
The MatrixBrute: The Power of a Modular System
Every patch can be saved and stored as a preset meaning that you don't have to play every part right away for fear of losing the settings. You can also choose to work with a 64-step sequencer with separate options for step, accent, slide and modulation. Create music simply directly on the analogue synth with complete freedom. Analogue effects can be added via the stereo outputs which means that your signal will remain fully analogue. There are chorus, delay and flanger effects, each with 5 modes, that can be specified as destinations in the matrix.
Box of Tricks
Various modes for the arpeggiator, as well as the sequencer can be applied resulting in a virtually endless range of possibilities. The MatrixBrute makes use of a Steiner Filter that also offers 4 modes and a Ladder Filter for punchy bass and lead sounds. Both filters have been upgraded so that 12 dB/oct and 24 dB/oct slopes can be used. A control for drive lets you enjoy fatter bass sounds than before while the VCF's and VCO's are of superior quality. The 3 VCO's are all equipped with a sub-oscillator and Saw, Pulse and Triangle wave forms with unique wave-shapers. Of course, the MatrixBrute also provides audio inputs and ports for MIDI, USB and CV for the ultimate in connectivity.

Received this from Bax about two weeks ago ( Dec 2019 ), have a number of other synths from an Electron, Dave Smith, Moog, Novation, Access and Arturia..
As a hands on synth with the ability to easily explore and create some truly incredible sounds I cannot recommend the MatrixBrute enough .. I have literally ignored everything else since getting it.
I got the deal with the flight case, and the case is made very well and is a real bargain !!
However ... put the brute into that case and try and carry it for any distance ( thank god for the wheels ), it is so heavy its not funny ;)
So in conclusion I think this really is the ultimate mono ( with a wee bit of para ) synth on the market .. and with the V2.0 FW update and the draw your own LFO functionality it just keeps getting better..

De synthesizer is goed afgewerkt, maar bij het logo van Arturia zat een kras in het hout.
Ik heb momenteel een probleem met, als de synthesizer niets doet, ik af en toe klankjes door mijn monitors hoor spelen. Mijn vermoeden is dat het te maken heeft met de FX van de Arturia. Ook heb ik bij een bepaalde patch dat de synthesizer een feedback loop creëert door gebruik van de FX.
Ik heb inmiddels contact opgenomen met Arturia of dit een firmware/hardware probleem is.

Si vous cherchez une machine analogique de qualité, c'est bien elle. La puissance de la matrice rends le matrix aussi souple qu'un synthé modulaire, les fils en moins ; bien qu'il y ai plein de connections à l'arrière pour faire du modulaire classique avec. Il y a plein de patchs, pas tous terribles, mais pour la plupart très sympas. Le clavier muni d'un aftertouch très utile est tout à fait confortable. Le séquenceur est parfaitement conçu et toute la chaîne de son a un rendu vraiment de qualité, des bonnes basses! Des heures et des heures de plaisir à rechercher des sons et des ambiances, que du bonheur

Door zn matrix kun je echt alle kanten op met deze synthesizer. Gebruik de macro knoppen om een of meerdere parameters te koppelen. Zo kun je door aan een knop te draaien je geluid makkelijk vormgeven en live spelen.
Nadelen:
De sequencer is altijd gequantized op de 16e noot.
Je kunt de square, triangle en saw extra body geven met de knoppen, maar dat effect is niet of nauwelijks te horen.
Voor het geld mag je wel een polyphone synth verwachten. Is erg duur voor wat je krijgt. Ik zou hem enkel kopen in de sale.

Misschien niet de pure geluidskwaliteit van de nieuwe Model D maar vele malen veelzijdiger voor de helft van de prijs!
