General
IK Multimedia's UNO Synth is its first hardware synthesizer. This portable monophonic synth has a fully analogue signal path and is easy enough for beginners to use as well as being advanced enough for experienced enthusiasts. IK Multimedia's own synth guru Erik Norlander joined forces with Italian boutique synth design company Soundmachines to create the UNO Synth. It should comes as no surprise, therefore, that this uncompromising synth has immense analogue sounds on board and is easy to program as well. What's more, it's surprisingly affordable too.
UNO Synth
The UNO Synth is made in Italy to exacting standards so that even the most experienced synth aficionado will be able to appreciate the quality of its pure analogue signal path. Thanks to its compact dimensions and the fact that it can be powered by USB or battery, you can use this synth just about anywhere which it makes it handy for musicians on the road.
Under the bonnet
Beginners can get started right away by using one of the 20 preset sounds on board. For more advanced users, there are 80 user slots where you can save your own creations. There's a 27-note multi-touch keyboard, a choice of 13 different scales and a built-in arpeggiator too. Sounds come from two VCOs, a noise generator, a VCF and a VCA. Thanks to this flexible synth engine, you can get warm, punchy bass sounds as well a broad range of soundscapes that include leads, drones, arps, sequences, sweeps and effects.
Sequencer and controller
The IK Multimedia UNO Synth also features one of the most powerful sequencers in its class. Up to 20 synth parameters can be set for each step and programming is easy using the multi-touch keyboard. Electronic music fans as well as DJs can easily add external audio devices by using the audio-in connector. The MIDI in/out connectors allow the UNO Synth to be easily integrated into existing setups too. There's also a USB port which can be used to connect a computer allowing you to use your DAW or other audio software with the UNO Synth.

Knoppen vindt ik wat onstabiel. Tempo is niet steeds netjes in te stellen, best is dan van preset veranderen en dan doet hij het wel weer.
Wel knap wat deze kleine synth voor deze prijs voor elkaar krijgt.
Ook wel een leuk ding om mee te nemen op reis, handig klein en werkt op batterijen.

Niet alleen is de Uno een vrij goedkope synthesizer maar hij klinkt ook heel erg lekker. De instelmogelijkheden zijn quasi oneindig. Handig is dat het toestel ook op batterijen werkt zodat je het overal meer kan nemen, alleen nog oortjes of een hoofdtelefoon en je kan nieuwe sounds maken.
De arpeggiator en sequencer zijn krachtig en er zijn 1001 instelmogelijkheden. Via midi kan ik de Uno aansluiten op een midi-keyboard of, mijn favoriet, een Waldorf Streichfett.
Er is een app beschikbaar voor iOS. Ook voor Windows en Mac zijn er niet alleen de plug-ins beschikbaar maar ook een aparte applicatie die je niet alleen toestaat om vlotter presets te laden en bewaren, maar ook om de UNO nog vlotter te bedienen.
Ook de Uno aanspreken via Reaper ging redelijk vlot alhoewel ik toch wat met de settings heb moeten klooien.
Voor mijn is er maar één minpuntje. Het zou handig zijn om een background verlichting te hebben zodat het paneel van de UNO ook in minder goede omstandigheden leesbaar zou blijven.
Al bij al een aankoop waar ik al heel wat plezier aan heb beleefd.
Voor de prijs een absolute aanrader.

Qua aankoop wil ik graag zeggen dat de Italianen hier een product zetten voor een top prijs zonder nonsens. Zelf kom ik op meer geluiden dan 20 die sowieso ook in Fruity Loops dik, luid maar netjes imponeren. Ik ben benieuwd of IK multimedia nu ook eens echte keyboards gaan maken. Ik vind dat als je deze kleine synth b.v. via een Minninova bestuurd dat je al sneller geluiden veranderd en kunt mixen. De rest mogen mensen zelf gaan verzinnen. DHL bezorging ging goed met een leuke fooi maakte ik iemand blij. Bax Shop ook bedankt!
