Roland have been making great synthesizers for decades and have had plenty of success with their Boutique Designer series, which is known for its compact synths that are packed full of iconic sounds. The SE-02 is a compact analogue synthesizer that is the first product to be released from the new Roland Boutique Designer series and was developed in collaboration with Studio Electronics. The SE-02: Analogue all the Way
For ultimate control, each function on the SE-02 has its own dedicated knob or switch that makes it easy to build sounds from the ground up. At the core of this powerful new synth are three temperature-stabilised oscillators with automatic tuning and six waveforms. With the on-board filters, envelopes, LFOs and digital delay, you can further shape your sound. Once you're happy with it, you can save it to one of the 128 user locations. Voor mij de eerste monosynth en de tweede in de boutique reeks. Toen ik deze synth tegenkwam op youtube was de keuze niet heel moeilijk. Het beste in de boutique reeks met digitale besturing en analoog geluid. De oscillatoren van deze synth produceren enorm ruwe geluiden die goed te vormen zijn met het mooie filter dat aanwezig is (subtractive synthesis). Het pallet gaat van ruwe leads tot aan boter gladde dikke bass sounds. Je kunt aan de architectuur herkennen dat het een synth is die zijn oorsprong heeft in de jaren 70. Maar wel met een aantal mooie voordelen van het huidige tijdperk. Presets, een leuke sequencer (een van de beste in de reeks) en een delay. Frequentie drift? Gewoon even tunen via het menu en 5 seconden later is alles in orde. Drie bijna identieke oscillatoren voor de gangbare golfvormen. Er zijn tal van modulatie opties waaronder ook flexibele cross modulatie, pulse width modulatie voor alle oscilatoren, 1 filter, 2 envelopes, twee LFO's. Deze apparaat is ondanks zijn kleine formaat een echt bruikbare synthesizer in vele muziekstijlen en een echte aanrader.
