The Remo ES-0014-00 Ambassador Ebony can be used as either a batter or resonant tom drumhead and measures 14 inches in diameter. Finished in black, this 10mil single-ply skin offers transparent resonance or sharp-edged attack depending on whether it's used as a resonant or batter head.

I chose this head to use on the resonant side of my 14” tom to kick conversion. I am definitely prefer clear heads on my toms, but this looks amazing on the front side of my emerald fade shell kick.

I should mention this is being paired with a remo silentstroke batter head for a low volume compact set to practice at home - otherwise I’d just be playing my 22” kick. This combination sounds amazing and the smaller 14” tom conversion helps the kick cut through at low volume.

I was so close to porting this head, but I am so glad I didn’t. Tuned just out of the flat thump range, and tweaked up just a pinch to get the head singing, it’s giving a big fat woody bass sound. Pretty cool considering all the tone is coming from this head being paired with a mesh batter.

I love this head, it sounds awesome and looks clean and and cool too - despite being a fan of clear tom batters I’d consider this for my whole kit as it looks really rich Along side the emerald green.

I have never really strayed much from remo as often they were all I could get my hands on or afford, but I am definitely beginning to have a new appreciation remo heads.

Zeer goed vel. Mooi afgewerkt zoals altijd bij Remo. Klinkt heel goed. Het vel heeft genoeg punch/attack en power maar heeft ook helderheid en een redelijk lange sustain. Gaat ook nog eens lang mee. Ik weet niet of het echt zo is, kan ook gevoelsmatig zijn maar ze lijken ten opzichte van de (gewone Ambassador) clear vellen wat 'darker' te klinken. Aanrader!
