If you're looking for a specific, distinct drum sound, you might want to take a look at Remo's updated reissues of classic drumheads. The Remo Emperors were introduces in the 1960s and have become a staple of pop music history, with their characteristic snare drum sound being used on a veritable plethora of classic albums. This Remo VE-0116-00 is a 16-inch Vintage Emperor Coated batter head.
The Vintage Emperors sound just like those original Emperor heads, and consist of two plies of 7.5-mil-thick polyester film with a coating for a warmer sound. It offers a beautifully bright tone with medium sustain. This particular 16-inch model also emphasises the mid and low frequencies. It's a great all-rounder and offers a highly balanced playing feel.
