General
Often, low-priced ukuleles are merely seen as gimmicks or accessories. Kala's high-quality affordable Soprano Ukulele including gig bag, however, offers so much more! The neck is equipped with 12 brass frets and made of mahogany which, together with the rosewood fretboard, gives this plucked string instrument a warm sound. Furthermore, the MK-S Makala comes with a nylon Makala gig bag, and the added PS 900 passive EQ even enables you to adjust the overall sound.
The ukulele: extremely versatile
In Hawaii, the ukulele is affectionately known as 'jumping flea'! This is not a particularly flattering name for an instrument that is such fun to play. In the 19th century, Portuguese migrants from Madeira brought the machete (a small, guitar-like instrument) to Hawaii. On this tropical island, the machete evolved into the ukulele. In the 20th century, the instrument conquered the United States and its popularity increased. Today the ukulele is used by solo performers, bands and even orchestras.
