General

This RGL5EB-CE is a guitarlele from Ortega's Timber Series, with an ebony body and a mahogany neck with walnut fingerboard. This small guitar is the size of a baritone ukulele, but has six nylon strings and is played like a guitar. The strings are tuned slightly higher than the standard tuning though, namely in A-D-G-C-E-A. Guitarleles are perfect for guitarists looking for that typical, finned ukulele sound without switching to four strings. It is also perfect as a travel guitar or simply as an extension of your range.

Big brother

Like the RGL5EB - its little brother so to speak - this guitarlele is beautifully finished with ABS bindings, Ortega gold plated tuning machines and an open pore finish, so the dark wood feels and looks very natural. But of course there are differences too, for instance big brother RGL5EB-CE features a MagusUke preamp with built-in tuner, so you can easily boost its warm sound, volume and tone are adjustable directly on the instrument. A cutaway increases playing comfort and also makes high notes accessible.

Really nice portable speaker that can connect to my ukulele and give it a nice amplification.
It's good to use in a small home setting, or mini concert.

Wrote the following about Aquila 96C Super Nylgut Guitarlele Strings (A-D-G-c-e-a)

I bought these strings for my Cordoba Mini guitar that has a 510mm scale length (just over 20 inches) and tunes to A just like a classical guitar with a capo on the 5th fret (NOTE: IT IS NOT the Mini II that has a longer scale length and tunes to standard E). It was a previously owned one from a music store and came strung with new ball-end full scale classical guitar strings that sounded muddy and dead. These Aquila 96C Guilele/Guitarlele strings are recommended for A-tuned instruments with a shorter scale length of 17 inches (432mm) which is normal for a Guilele, but I thought i would test them anyway. Usually the same strings will feel tighter on a longer scale length than on a shorter scale length instrument and 78mm (3 inches) is quite a difference. I am very pleased with the sound. The strings feel and sound more alive and the mini guitar rings better. It sounds more snappy and a bit more like a guilele than a scaled down classical guitar, and that is what I wanted.
