General

Live applications often require high-quality sound at an attractive price. Condenser microphones provide great audio quality, but because they are more vulnerable than dynamic microphones, this can be a problem on stage!

The Shure BETA 87A proves that this doesn't have to be the case, however! It is rugged enough for on-stage operations! This is thanks to the advanced pneumatic shockmount system that counters vibrations and the solid steel housing, among other things. Thanks to its super-cardioid pickup pattern, feedback isn't an option.

This microphone system consists of the SLX2 transmitter with Beta 87A capsule and SLX 4 receiver. The SLX 4 receiver makes things easy for you: the installation procedure is taken care of automatically by the SLX 4 and SLX 2 themselves! The SLX 4 chooses the best frequency out of its 960 available options and subsequently contacts the SLX 2 on that frequency. All you have to do is press a couple of buttons! Shure couldn't have made it any easier.

The difference between the Beta 87A and 87C is the pickup pattern: the Beta 87A has a super-cardioid pickup pattern, whereas the 87C has a cardioid pattern. Chances therefore are that the 87A will suffer less feedback, but the user will have to sing straight into the microphone as sound from the sides is not picked up. The 87C does not require such expertise, but it is a little more sensitive to feedback.
