General
At larger venues, it is always practical to be able to use several microphone systems at once. Thanks to the XD-V55 series by Line 6, this is no problem. This XD-V55L set consists of a body pack, a receiver and a lavalier microphone - ideal for presentations and insensitive to interference as it sends its signal over the 2.4GHz frequency. Other devices cannot influence the signal thanks to its encryption. The XD-V55 system can handle operating with up to 12 devices simultaneously, making it perfect for larger settings.
Transmitter and receiver of the XD-V55 system
As the transmitter and receiver communicate digitally, more than just the microphone's signal can be sent. The battery status of a body pack is also legible on the receiver, for instance. This way, a sound technician is in full command over a performance, right from his work station. What's more, both the transmitter and the receiver have an elaborate LCD display that shows you all you need to know in terms of signal strength, receiver volume, channel settings and transmitter microphone model.
Lavalier microphone
The lavalier microphone of this system is a condenser microphone with a cardioid pickup pattern, meaning it is a fairly sensitive mic and that it even picks up sounds from a distance - making it the perfect microphone to incorporate into clothing. Thanks to the standard T4A mini XLR connector on the body pack, other microphones can also be used with this system.

Als eerste valt op dat de beltpack van gietaluminium is, zeer robuust. Alles straalt kwaliteit uit. Ik heb er nu een paar keer mee gewerkt op diversen lokaties en overal was het een kwestie van inprikken en klaar. Omdat er geen regelknoppen op beltpack en ontvanger zitten hoef je niets meer af te stellen wat erg fijn is als je reist en steeds met andere geluidsmensen te maken hebt. Het geluid is goed maar ik heb dat zelf nog niet echt goed kunnen beoordelen.
Het enige onhandige is de grote draaiknop op de ontvanger voor de kanaalinstelling. je moet er recht voor zitten om te zien op welk kanaal hij staat. dat had wat handiger kunnen zijn. (ik schilder er nog wel een stipje/lijntje op binnenkort) Verder moet je even goed oppassen als je oplaadbare batterijen koopt. 14,4 mm diameter past er niet in en de 2700mah NiMH batterijen zijn blijkbaar vaak die maat. (wist ook niet dat daar dus verschil in bestaat!)
De info op zowel beltpack als ontvanger is verder uitstekend. Handig dat jouw geluidstechnieker kan zien dat je op 'mute' staat. Hij kan zelfs je batterijstatus in de gaten houden.
Bax gaf ook goed advies en prettige klantenservice dus ben alweer terug voor nog wat accesoires.
De bijbehorende lavalier mic. gebruik ik puur als reservemic en heb ik nog niet getest!
