The Portico 511 is a 500-series preamplifier module based on the legendary designs of Rupert Neve. One of the unique features of this preamp is the 'silk' switch. This activates an electronic circuit that brings a silky smooth texture to the sound, thanks to overdrive of the output transformer. The degree to which this happens can be controlled with the texture knob. So you can choose how much the preamp 'colours' the signal, making this module a versatile addition to your arsenal. Full of useful features

The Portico 511 features a high-pass filter with an infinitely adjustable frequency between 20 and 250 Hz. This can exclude unwanted hum or low-frequency noise such as passing helicopters from the recording. It also has a switch that transmits the 48-volt phantom power supplied by the 500-series power supply to the microphone. The maximum gain is 66 dB. However, when the gain knob is set to 0 dB, line-level sources up to +20dBu can be processed without a separate pad switch.
