Featuring a thinline body without a sound hole to eliminate the risk of feedback, the Sire Marcus Miller GB5 4 electro-acoustic bass guitar literally gives you the best of both worlds. While not as loud as a full-size acoustic bass, this lightweight, chambered model features a solid spruce soundboard for an extra rich-and-resonant foundation sound, with the mahogany back and sides adding just the right amount of warmth.
The Marcus Miller GB5 4: Edgeless Fretboard
The bolt-on, 3-piece mahogany neck is seriously stable and combines with a C-profile and an edgeless rosewood fretboard for maximum playing comfort. The sound of the steel strings is picked up by a piezo pickup before being sent to the specially-developed Vividx-B preamp, which kits you out with a 3-band equaliser and a phase switch for extensive tone-shaping options.

Ik was al een tijdje op zoek naar een basgitaar met een piezo pickup zonder klankkast, omdat ik graag speel met tapewound snaren. Tapewound snaren in combinatie met magnetische pickups hebben als nadeel dat er altijd een bromgeluid hoorbaar is omdat de tape niet geleidend is.
Dus ik was blij dat Sire met deze bas een betaalbare optie op markt heeft gebracht. En ik ben er meer dan tevreden over. Deze Sire heeft een fijn akoestisch geluid, maar ik heb er nog niet een contrabas sound uit weten te krijgen. Wellicht dat dat met de fretloze versie van deze bas wel zou lukken.
Ik vind de prijs-kwaliteit uitstekend. De hals heeft afgeronde randen (voelt bijzonder prettig) en een kam van been. Dat zijn features die sommige duurdere bassen (bijv. uit de Fender Player serie) niet eens hebben.
De contour van deze bas vind ik een meer elegante variant van het Telecaster model. Gelukkig maar, want het oog wil natuurlijk ook wat.
Dus ik was blij dat Sire met deze bas een betaalbare optie op markt heeft gebracht. En ik ben er meer dan tevreden over. Deze Sire heeft een fijn akoestisch geluid, maar ik heb er nog niet een contrabas sound uit weten te krijgen. Wellicht dat dat met de fretloze versie van deze bas wel zou lukken.
