A legend of bluegrass, Tony Rice played with Martin Monel strings right up until they went out of production in the seventies. To breath new life into Rice's favourite pack of strings, Martin enlisted the help of his sound engineer to develop a traditional set of acoustic guitar strings using an improved formula. According to Rice himself, these strings are unique because they don't alter the timbre of your instrument. Instead, the nickel-based alloy that these strings have been made of simply pull the natural woody sound and character out of your guitar.

Martin Strings MTR13 Tony Rice Bluegrass zijn mijn favoriet. Ik gebruik deze al wat jaartjes op mijn dreadnought omdat ze heel goed zijn voor mn vingerspel. Voorkeur op nickel omdat ik daar langer mee doe en ze mooier vind klinken dan de fosfor bronze. Verkleuren doen ze bij dagelijks spelen ook niet zo snel. Zolang ik ze prettig vind spelen en het publiek niet klaagt dan neem ik ze de volgende keer zeker weer.

Heerlijke snaren. In eerste instantie was ik er niet enthousiast over. Iets te veel mid en te weinig sprankel. Toen ze er iets langer op zaten, trok de klank echter bij, en werd de klank mooi warm en in balans. De snaren gingen langer mee dan verwacht (morel staat er niet om bekend lang mee te gaan). Snaren met een vrij specifiek geluid, maar ik ben om!
