HK Audio is back with the dawn of the Linear 5 speaker system, elevating the entire concept of versatile speakers to a higher plane. The LX 112A is the entry model for this comprehensive series of full-range speakers and is made to be used as a full-range, satellite or monitor speaker. Thanks to its specially designed construction, it can be applied to pretty much any situation.

Technical features of the L5 112 XA speaker

The L5 112 XA speaker is equipped with a rugged 12-inch woofer and a 1-inch tweeter, driven by a powerful amplifier to produce an SPL of up to 135 dB. It'll come as no surprise that this speaker makes a perfect floor monitor, as it can make itself heard over your PA with little effort. The L5 112 XA has a rotatable horn with an optimal 60 x 40-degree dispersion. Moreover, these speakers feature a safety circuit (with PTCs and pilot light) giving you nothing but reliability and superb sound.

The appearance

A strong grille with a remarkable design gives some idea of the direction that the L5 series is heading in. The rugged grille gives the speaker a tough look to matches its durability and special speaker foam on the inside of the grille, keeps any dust or any external away from your drivers and in top condition. The cabinet is built with MDF combined with birch plywood and sports a scratch-proof black lacquer.

Ik heb deze speakers als de power pack set gekocht en ik ben zeer tevreden over het geluid, mooi strak en warm. Een paar min puntjes: De stroomvoorziening is een normale 240 volt stekker die je er zo kan uittrekken, en na wat slijtage er uit kan trillen. wat ik enorm mis is een piek lampje aan de voorkant van de speaker. Achter zit hij er wel maar ik sta als geluidsman vaak voor de speakers en dan zie ik niet of hij staat te klippen. En een heel groot min punt, als de limiter beveiliging inschakelt gaat het geluid niet zachter MAAR hij gooit het hele geluid ineens uit. Dat vind ik een groot min punt. Zijn deze minpunten opgelost dan geef ik 5 ***** sterren.

Wat ik me wel afvraag is waarom een passieve set vele malen harder klinkt dan een actieve set van de zelfde wattage???? Ik had verwacht en mijn colega's ook dat mijn actieve set van 4400 watt veel harder zou moeten kunnen klinken???

Inmiddels ook 2, 18'' lowsubs de 4000A er bij gekocht, en dat is echt een verademing.

Gekocht ter vernieuwing van de HK audio PRO 12. Al een heel groot voordeel ze zijn veel kleiner en je kan ze als monitor gebruiken. de hoezen kan je er gewoon overschuiven, niet zoals de PRO 12 met die ritssluitingen, welk toch altijd aan de hoeken stuk gaan. (na het feestje wordt er niet altijd even voorzichtig met de hoezen om gegaan ;-) )Deze linears zijn wel een heel stuk krachtiger. Ik gebruik ze wel altijd met de sub combinatie. heb gisteren dan eens de test gedaan tussen de 2 en ik merk dat het verschil wel miniem is met deze combinatie, zonder sub is er wel een volumeverschil merkbaar. ik heb de linear 5 sub 2000 van HK audio en beide speakers (PRO 12 en linear 112 XA kunnen deze sub aan. ik zou zeggen speelt ruimte geen rol en gebruik je ze niet als monitor neem dan de pro 12, in het andere geval is de meerkost van deze 112 XA het zeker waard. Klank is zoals altijd van HK audio subliem.
Je moet ook geen appels met peren vergelijken. ik kon ze ook testen met bv een low budget luidspreker maar daar steken ze toch zonder test beiden met kop en schouder boven.
De poweraansluiting van de PRO12 is wel beter met de mechanische beveiliging. bij de 112 XA is het een gewoon kabeltje zoals een PC. Dit vind ik wel een groot minpunt. Voeding uittrekken gaat wel wat te gemakkelijk.....
