General
Yamaha is known for their high-quality sound devices, and they have proven it again with the DXR series. Some highlights from this speaker series include the ability to loop and a built-in 3-channel mixer. The two-way active speaker can produce big sound with its 10-inch woofer and 1.4-inch tweeter.
The DXR 10
The DXR 10 is the big brother of the DXR8. This active loudspeaker has a frequency range of 56Hz to 20kHZ and 131 dB SPL. It is possible to mount this speaker to a 35mm stand, or to use it as a floor monitor. If you choose the latter option, you can switch modes to minimise the bass so it won't entirely dominate the sound. Do this by changing the D-contour mode.
D-contour and HPF
There is a built-in DSP processor with this speaker which can be used to switch easily between different modes. This is especially handy if you use the DXR 10 speaker as a floor monitor. It's also possible to set the HPF values in such a way that you give high notes starting from a certain frequency an extra boost. This is useful if you're using the DXR 10 as a satellite speaker.

Onze drummer speelt erg luid en alsnog hoeft het volume maar op een kwart te staan. Deze speaker gaat hard zat! Hij zou zelfs op een speakerstatief gebruikt kunnen worden voor kleinere optredens.
Verder is deze speaker gewoond degelijk gebouwd. Draaiknoppen, switches en connectors voelen goed aan en de behuizing lijkt ook van goede kwaliteit te zijn.

Hoewel ik de speaker bedoelde als oplossing voor thuis en voor gigs, bleek ik met deze Yamaha thuis gigantisch overpowered te zijn, daarom heb ik 'm toch teruggestuurd en in plaats daarvan 2 Behringer nearfield studio monitoren gekocht voor thuis.
Retour was voor Bax geen enkel probleem en werd prima afgehandeld.

Maar, wat een kwaliteit. Echt een super geluid.
Zocht een box waar je met background muziek saxofoon mee kan spelen, met de sax ook uitversterkt, een mooi vol geluid en alle tonen blijven schitterend in balans.
Maar ook gebruikt met een presentatie met spraak, met een shure SM58 een werkelijk kraakhelder geluid, ook voor een zaal van 100 man, en dat met 1 box op statief. microfoon gewoon inpluggen en klaar. kans op rondzingen minimaal.
Ook als monitor goed te gebruiken, zit achterop speciale presets voor het juiste gebruik.
Dus mijn idee is beter 1 zo een box en eventueel later er een bij, dan "my first onkyo's" voor 300 euro
Er zit zeven jaar garantie op dus deze gaat nog wel even mee . blij mee.

Ik heb flink gezocht en vergeleken maar voor mij bleef er maar één PA speaker over en dat was de Yamaha. Mijn eisen zijn: draagbaar, er goed uitzien, power zonder veel vervorming en klankmatig zo dicht mogelijk bij Hifi. Dat doet deze Yamaha. O ja, het laag is redelijk indrukwekkend voor een 10 inch.
Met een tweede er straks bij en een sub ben ik klaar voor niet te grote Gigs. Ik kijk er naar uit!
