General
The newest member of the Orange family is the Micro Dark guitar amplifier head. Micro refers to its size and not its sound, which is anything but micro. It's just what you'd expect from an amplifier company like Orange: rugged and direct. With just three controls (Volume, Shape and Gain), the easily transportable amp head can take your music anywhere you want to go with a 12AX7/ECC83 tube preamp and a 20-watt transistor output.
Micro Dark Head guitar amplifier head: pure sound
In combination with the gain control, you can manipulate your sound endlessly using the Shape knob. This regulates how the mid-tones sound: on '0', the mids are eliminated completely leaving just treble and bass, on '10' the reverse is true. The Micro Dark also has a headphone socket that sounds just like an Orange 4x12 inch cabinet, thanks to CabSim. Naturally though, it sounds best when connected to a real cabinet.
Metal at home
With its small size and low output, practising at home is easy with the Orange. If you want to add something different to the sound, you can add effects using the effects loop; not that that is really needed, of course, because the Micro Dark's true nature is as a metal amplifier. As a metalhead, you will quickly find what you're looking for.

Echt een fantastisch goeie Orange versterker. Gebruik hem zelf met de koptelefoon uitgang, waar overigens ruis op zit maar zodra je speelt is dat weg. Heb de buis vervangen voor een 12AY7, klinkt naar mijn oren ietsje beter. Russian Green Big Muff Pi is een goeie combo met deze amp!

De prijs/product verhouding is goed en te verwachten. Ik heb er veel plezier van maar, de pedalen die ik in de fx loop heb zitten zijn wel noodzakelijk. De distortion in de amp is erg 'fuzzy', ik zelf hou meer van de rauwe, crunchy, metal tone. Die heeft deze amp niet. Ik heb hem daarom wat ballen gegeven met behulp van een Revv G3 distortion pedal en voor de clean tone maak ik gebruik van de shaker van tc electronic. Nu ben ik tevreden en speelt het prima voor thuis.

Ik vind Orange top dus waarom niet. ik zet hem op een Orange 1 x 12 en het valt me een beetje tegen. Ben denkelijk verwend door de vele buizen versterkers waar ik op speel mss maar goed....Krijg er het beste nog uit door de gain terug te draaien en er een distortion pedaal in te gooien . Het nut van dit ding gaat me eerlijk gezegd ook wat voorbij. Ok 20 watt is al wat maar de afmetingen werken bedrieglijk..Het ding is LUID dus nachtelijk oefenen is er niet bij.(via de hoofdtelefoon wel natuurlijk)..Terug schakelen naar een lager volume was een leuke functie geweest.Ook de power cable had steviger gemogen..De prijs is natuurlijk ok maar ik hou het bij mijn full tube heads.

Hij weegt niks maar het is een beest, heb 'm op een 12" cabinet en dan komt er serieus veel lawaai uit. Super veel gain. Naast gitaar heb ik er ook een basgitaar en een analoge synth doorheen gestuurd en dat klinkt top.

Zeer goede versterker zonder onnodige extra's. Het geluid is top en de Gain is ongelofelijk goed. De versterker is ook goed draagbaar door zijn kleine afmeting. Voor het beste resultaat is een grote speakerkast wel aanbevolen. Hij werkt goed samen met de Orange PPC 108 black cabinet maar je mist toch de lage tonen en de extra kracht van een grotere speakerkast.

Utilisé par la sortie casque sur table de mix pour répètes au casque et c'est excellent pour du rock ou metal gentil. Rien besoin de plus que la guitare. Sur cabinet, ca sonne fort aussi.
Je trouve que le prix est juste un peu exagéré pour ce que c'est, quand on regarde, c'est minuscule est pas très rempli! Elle pourrait être au même prix que la Micro terror. Enfin le boulot est quand-même bien fait et ca à l'air solide.
A noter que l'alim est externe, genre alim de pc portable.
Le tout garanti 5 ans sur bax-shop.fr et .be merci! ;-)

Een stevige goeie kleine versterker die best hard gaat. Als de gain half open staat, kan volume 2 al standje buren ruzie zijn. Afhankelijk van de speaker die je erbij gebruikt.
Een prima oefenversterker die ook prima fungeerd als back up voor optredens (moet ie wel uitverssterkt worden). Enig minpuntje is dat zeker bij SG en Les Paul modellen (met humbucker) de clean een beetje kan storen/ruizen. Door je volume op je gitaar zachter te zetten verhelp je dat. Dit probleem heb je niet bij single coin elementen als in een telecaster/strat.
Als laatste staat hij natuurlijk het mooist in de kamer als je de bijbehorende speaker koopt waar een dijk van een geluid uit komt. Of mocht je willen is het geluit van de koptelefoonaansluiting ook van goede kwaliteit. Kortom: gewoon een goed product!
