If you're looking for affordability and functionality, you know you're headed in the right direction with Behringer. Take, for instance, their XENYX UFX1204. Not only is this mixing console loaded with options, but thanks to the four XENYX mic preamps, it offers excellent sound quality. You wouldn't be hard-pressed to find an audio professional who would vouch for these popular preamps. Furthermore, the UFX1204 is equipped with an integrated USB/FireWire interface for recording to your PC/Mac or to the integrated 16-track USB recorder - all you have to do is connect a USB stick, and you can save your recording to it directly!
The mono channels
This low-noise high-headroom mixing console is equipped with four mono and four stereo channels. Each of the mono channels has a balanced XLR/6.3mm jack and an unbalanced jack. Moreover, channels 1 and 2 both offer a line/Hi-Z switch so you can connect electric and electro-acoustic (bass) guitars without a DI box. You can also optimise your sound with the help of the British 3-band EQ, with parametric mid-control. Finally, you can even use your condenser microphones with this mixer, because it is equipped with +48 V phantom power.
Stereo channels and effects
Nope, we're not done yet! The 4 stereo channels support balanced and unbalanced 6.3mm jacks and are each equipped with a 4-band British EQ. There are also two AUX sends available on every channel, and switchable pre-post FireWire sends grace the supple, durable faders. The UFX1204 wouldn't be complete without a high-quality effects processor, and this one has 16 presets, including chorus, reverb, flanger, delay, multi-effects and a tap function. Finally, a particularly convenient one-knob compressor is available on every mono channel.

Voelt goed aan en doet wat hij moet doen met zeer veel mogelijkheden voor een klein ding.
Voor streamers of content creators hij werkt zeer goed samen met obs

Bij de meeste 'budget' mixers zie je geen talkback mic, extra headphone output, alternative output, 4 channel returns van de computer. Werkt prima met Garageband. Ik heb nog niet de Traction software geprobeerd.
Mocht je nog twijfelen, niet doen, gewoon kopen.

Om te beginnen heeft de mixer 4 mono kanalen met XLR aansluitingen voor microfoons. Wat mij opviel waren de Low Cut knoppen die je niet ziet op een standaard Xenyx mixer. Deze zijn erg handig om extreem lage geluiden weg te laten (zoals bijvoorbeeld brom).
De compressors zijn standaard, net als de equalizer. De equalizer heeft een extra draaiknop waarmee je de frequentie van de Mid-band kunt aanpassen. Handig, maar ik gebruik het niet zo vaak omdat ik de mixer gebruik in een opname-studio, en ik geen live equalizer nodig heb. Ik heb hem natuurlijk wel getest en de 3-bands equalizer met frequentieknop werkt super.
De 80 mm faders geven goede feedback en zijn redelijk accuraat. De 100 mm master fader geeft een stuk minder feedback en voelt een beetje goedkoop. Hij doet zijn werk wel goed.
Naast een mixer is deze mixer natuurlijk ook een USB audio interface.
Misschien wel de rede dat deze mixer zo duur is, is vanwege zijn individuele audio converters per kanaal. Dat houdt in dat deze mixer de mogelijkheid heeft voor Multitracking, meerdere microfoons tegelijk opnemen. Dat was de nummer 1 reden dat ik deze mixer aanschafte, en ik moet zeggen dat multitracking dan ook vlekkeloos gaat na het installeren van de benodigde drivers. Multitracking over USB is dus toch mogelijk!
Daarnaast werd ik blij verrast door de 2 digital stereo output converters, die het geluid van je computer kunnen routen naar kanaal 9/10 en 11/12. Omdat je 2 verschillende stereo converters hebt, worden deze als 2 verschillende apparaten gezien in Windows, en kun je dus per apparaat een verschillende driver inladen. Zo gebruik ik op 9/10 (FW 1-2) de uitvoer van de Asio4All driver, en gebruik ik op kanaal 11/12 (FW 3-4) de uitvoer van de WDM Windows driver. Ik kan dus twee drivers tegelijk gebruiken, en door de laatste 2 stereo kanalen op de mixer op te geven, kan ik van iedere driver het volume individueel bepalen.
Ik ben verrast over hoe vaak dit van pas komt, echt super!
De latency met de aanbevolen driver is niet slecht, ik meet 11 milliseconden tussen input en output in Fl studio 12 op 44,1 Khz, met zowel invoer als uitvoer over de mixer. De mixer ondersteunt sample rates van de 44,1 Khz tot de 96 Khz. Geen enkele sample rate levert problemen op.
Tenslotte werken de MIDI control knopjes (play, pause, stop, etc) aan de voorkant met de meeste DAW's, zolang je ze hebt ingesteld op "Mackie Controls". De USB poort aan de achterkant van de mixer geeft altijd stroom af als de mixer aanstaat, dus kun je daar in een studio omgeving een USB led lamp in pluggen om de mixer in donkere ruimtes te verlichten.
Wat een apparaat, natuurlijk is deze UFX uitvoering duurder dan de standaard Xenyx Q uitvoering, maar in mijn ogen en oren is dat het zeker waard! Een super All-In-One unit!
