General
The DAP GIG-83CFX is an extensive, practical and accessible mixer. It is super-handy for the amplification of a small group of musicians or public speakers. For the latter, you can for instance reserve a few microphone channels for the speakers and one or more stereo channels for a laptop, MP3 player or other external audio source. The compressors on channel 1 and 2 make sure that speech is nicely uniform and audible, by automatically suppressing annoying volume peaks.
Adjusting the sound with the GIG-83CFX
A nice extra of the GIG-83CFX is the effects processor, which allows you to add reverb or a chorus effect, after which you can decide per channel how much of this effect is used. In this way, you can give vocals and instruments the right atmosphere and depth. Furthermore, each channel of this mixer is provided with equalizer controls, so that the different signals can specifically be adjusted to the acoustics of the space and can be perfectly blended into the mix. With the practical faders, you can quickly make adjustments in the volume of each channel.
Send/return and optional modules
If you don't want to use any internal effects, but an external effects device, you can place the GIG-83CFX between the send and return connectors. Another application of the send output is the use of a monitor speaker, which you can place on stage to hear yourself properly. With the FX knobs at the various channels, you can subsequently decide how loud every source needs to be heard via the monitor. The empty panel of the DAP Audio GIG-83CFX is reserved for an optional build-in module: an MP3 playback module, MP3 recording module or Bluetooth module.
