The RME ADI-2 Pro FS R is a high-end AD/DA converter offering a sample rate of up to 768 KHz, making it perfectly suited for DSD streaming. Among the connectors, you'll find AES/EBU I/O, S/PDIF I/O and, of course, analogue I/O.
Features of ADI-2 PRO FS R
The ADI-2 PRO FS R is the heart of any mixing and mastering studio and because RME know some audio engineers can be a little, let's say, exact, they've ensured the converter can be integrated into every set-up in countless ways. If you tend to work entirely 'in-the-box', you can hook the device up to your PC or Mac via USB, while a Lightning or micro-USB adapter can be used to playback high-resolution music from a smartphone or tablet. Maybe you've already got an audio interface you're quite happy with. In that case, you can use the ADI-2 Pro FS R as a high-performance DAC for the master bus and, in a hybrid set-up with analogue summing, the stereo output on your summing mixer can be digitalised using the analogue input on the ADI-2.
High-End Headphone Amplifier
Since it's equipped with two powerful amplifiers that can be merged into a single balanced stereo headphone output, premium high-impedance headphones are fully accommodated by the ADI-2 Pro. There's an S/PDIF connector on-board to effortlessly add this AD/DA converter to a Hi-Fi set-up and, as a final note, demanding music professionals (and amateurs alike) will appreciate the fact that RME have conveniently included a remote control.

Wrote the following about RME ADI-2 Pro FS R AD/DA Converter
Met zijn hoge samplerate zorgt hij ervoor dat je transients ervaart als nooit tevoren. Persoonlijk vind ik dat de samplerates boven 192kHz wat minder transparant klinken dan je zou denken, maar dit kan misschien liggen aan de bron van het geluidsbestand. Bij mij staat ie dus ingesteld op 192kHz voor het luisteren van muziek.
Navigeren door de menu's kan soms wat omslachtig zijn, gelukkig is er een afstandsbediening bij waarmee je voor bepaalde functionaliteiten niet meer door de menu's hoeft te heulen.
De spectrummeter op het display is echt een streling voor het oog: responsief en accuraat. Handig om snel eens te kijken hoe het frequentiebereik eruit ziet bij je favoriete nummer of bij het mixen/producen.
De grootste tekortkoming voor mij is het feit dat deze interface geen mic pre-amp heeft op z'n inputs. In deze prijscategorie verwacht je dat enigzins toch wel. Aangezien ik mijn microfoon niet zo veel gebruik, sluit ik deze dan maar aan op mijn oude interface.
Degelijke bouwkwaliteit, stabiele software, eenvoudige en regelmatige updates, responsieve dienst-na-verkoop, ramp-up van het volume bij het inpluggen van een hoofdtelefoon,... Te veel pluspunten om op te noemen.
Deze interface is voor mij de end-game.
