RME Babyface PRO FS Audio Interface

RME is a household name in the world of audio interfaces and conversion and their Babyface Pro has long earned its stripes. Regardless, RME now release the Babyface Pro FS, equipped with a number of improved features. For starters, it's been fitted with the SteadyClock FS circuit found in the ADI-2 Pro to allow for the lowest possible jitter. The headphone output is increased from 70 to 90 mW and the op-amps have also been taken from the ADI-2 Pro FS. Compared to its predecessor, the latency has been lowered with six samples and the signal-to-noise ratio has been improved; all without increasing total power consumption.

Improved Microphone and Line Inputs

To save space, RME have opted for an XLR socket for the key inputs and outputs. The two preamps are digitally driven and both feature switchable phantom power and thermal overload protection. Due to its efficient design, the Babyface Pro FS doesn't require any external power and takes all of its energy from a computer or laptop. There's a Toslink I/O that supports ADAT + SMUX or S/PDIF and 192 kHz sample rates and multi-tracking can be effortlessly done in combination with an external ADAT converter to give you twelve analogue inputs and outputs.

Mixing and Routing with TotalMix FX and TotalMix Remote

As with most recent RME interfaces, the Babyface Pro FS comes with TotalMix FX. This real-time digital mixer lets you send mixes and routings to all physical outputs, regardless of input and output channel and for unrivalled flexibility when it comes to stereo sub-mix monitoring. The FPGA-based DSP mixer has been fitted with a 3-band parametric equalizer plus reverb and delay on each input and output and TotalMix can be controlled via iPad, iPhone, PC or Mac. Fill in the IP address of your computer and you're ready to make adjustments to your headphone mix or routing from afar.
