General

With the arrival of the GLD series, digital pro audio technology became much more affordable. The GLD series allows you to use expansion rack with built-in, remotely controlled preamps, so that incoming signals are digitised and jointly transmitted to the GLD-80 mixer via the Cat5 cable.

The GLD-AR2412 Expansion Rack

This expansion rack has 24 inputs and 12 outputs, making it the ideal on-stage companion. In essence, it behaves as a breakout box, but features artificial intelligence, built-in preamps and even Cat5 connectors. The AR2412 is the primary expansion rack of the GLD series and is the most logical choice when expansion is required, as the GLD-80 mixer only features a few inputs and outputs. Via the dSNAKE protocol, signals are transmitted via Cat5 cables of up to 120 metres, so that the mixer can be positioned further away from the stage. It's also possible to expand upon the AR2412 with an additional expansion rack that can easily be connected via the extra output. Furthermore, the GLD-AR2412 has an Aviom-compatible monitor output, for assigning personal monitoring systems like in-ear headphones or floor monitors.

Wrote the following about Allen & Heath GLD-AR2412 Expansion Rack

In de winkel een test gedaan of ik veel verschil tussen dx168 en deze ar2413 kon horen.
(Eigenlijk een vergelijking gedaan tussen ar2412 en local inputs op sq6
Volgens documentatie van A&H blijven local inputs op 96kHz terwijl de ar2412 48kHz werkt…
SM87 op Ar2412 vergeleken met SM87 op local input.
Op een mooie koptelefoon kritisch geluisterd en geen grote verschillen kunnen waarnemen.
Daarom vanwege meer inen uitgangen en de lagere prijs (zelfs incl. 3u flightcase) gekozen voor dit apparaat.
Inmiddels eerste optreden van de band waar ik het geluid voor doe gedaan.
Hij werkte perfect en klonk goed.

Ce stagebox ou boitier de scène de chez Allen & Heath fait ce qu'on lui demande et le fait bien !
Je l'utilise avec une SQ5 et j'en suis ravi.
Attention cependant les preamps n'ont pas la même couleur que les préamps onboard (ceux de la console), le son de l'AR2412 est beaucoup plus chaleureux, très "British" en somme mais ce n'est pas pour me déplaire :)
Le rack en lui même mesure 3U de haut mais avec les patins compter 5mm de plus, pour les enlever il suffit d'ôter la petite attache plastique au centre de ceux-ci et vous aurez 3U de haut.
Mon seul regret est qu'il n'affiche pas si le 48v est actif (contrairement a un DX168).
